The final version of the national emblem it was adopted in '97 and came at the end of a seven year debate, the emblem includes a rampant gold lion on a Burgundy shield with a crown almost the same as the crown used by the tsars of the 2nd kingdom of Bulgaria, you will see 5 crosses ans a seperate cross above the crown, note that the shield has two golden crowned lions standing on the leaves from an oak tree which is laid one above the other
